A Level Below
🎮 About the Game
A Level Below is a short anomaly-spotting exploration game where you descend through a series of 7 identical floors. Each level may contain a subtle change—or none at all. Your goal is to observe carefully and decide correctly before moving deeper.
🧠 Gameplay
- Each floor looks the same at first glance.
- Sometimes, something changes (an anomaly).
- Sometimes, nothing changes.
- Explore the floor and observe details.
- At the staircase, decide whether an anomaly exists.
- Choose correctly to progress.
- A wrong decision ends your run.
🌀 Anomalies
Anomalies are subtle changes applied to specific objects on each floor. Pay close attention to:
- Paintings (all 4)
- Broom
- Armchair
- Chair near the round table
- Lights (all 3)
- Microwave
- Pinboard
- Upset Lady (NEW)
These objects may change in position, rotation, visibility, or other small details.
More anomalies may be added in future updates.
✨ Features
- Subtle environmental anomalies
- Randomized changes for replayability
- Simple but tense decision-making
- Minimalist exploration-focused design
- “One life” system for high stakes
🎮 Controls
- W A S D – Move
- Mouse – Look around
- E – Anomaly present
- Q – No anomaly

🎯 Objective
Reach the final floor by correctly identifying every change. Stay observant—small details matter.

NICE
THANKS!
It's simple but that's really nice in an anomaly hunting game because it makes changes more impactful. Great work and happy to see you keep updating it!
Thanks for a positive feedback, I will try to add more interesting anomalies and improve the game.❤️
Thank you so much, I will keep working to improve the game and bring better experience to my dear players!
Included this in my 3 random horror game video!
For being made for a gamejam, this was quite a decent short anomaly horror game! A bit challenging for sure with some hard to spot anomalies. Great area used for it as well. Overall, impressed with this little anomaly horror game! Made a video on it.
Thanks a lot for trying my game, I am glad that you enjoyed the game.♥️♥️
Just started and I already know what to pay attention for, imo you should find a way to hide that or put it through rot13/any decoder so that people who don't want help won't accidently spoil theirselves.
Just finished the game, its well designed and I think its clever that you cant go back up levels and that theres different sounds for when you get the room right or not, what bothers me though is the fact you dont get to know what was wrong. Overall its a well designed game :)
Thank you for trying my game and giving an honest opinion. I will add a feature so you'd know what mistake you made when incorrect. ♥️
A little gameplay, a bit of critique ;)
Thank you so much, I watched the whole video, I can see you mostly missed the light anomaly 😅, The feedback is really good. You have mentioned some great points I need to work on. Like mentioning the floor number, improving anomalies to be more scary rather than just being subtle changes. I really appreciate your efforts thanks man.♥️
I guess it's true when they say gamers don't look up! :D
Hahahaha🤣
vhs toggle is a nice update!
Thank you!, I am working to bring more anomalies too.
